How do any of these things help our “energy crisis”? What ever happened to planting a tree???
I think that companies are trying to be more responsible with using plasics.. IE using recycled bottles to make t-shirts, bags etc… Or using LESS plastic in packaging all together… So, I don’t see any harm in using these tactics… Besides it’s really up to the consumer to decide whether or not to purchase such products…
As a consumer I’ve been looking at my plastic purchases to see if the plastic can be recycled as some cannot! So, if you want to plant a tree, plant a tree and buy from companies that use less or recycled plastic!
Everything we can do to decrease our footprint helps. Watch The 11th Hour or An Inconvenient Truth. Yeah, there are people who say those films are BS, but Global Warming & the environment are polarizing issues (just like abortion) and there is a grain of truth in both sides!
Just another fad. and I plant lots of trees, I enjoy the shade and quietness they provide. and new studies show plastic water bottles cause cancer. really should go back to glass

you cant spend yourself green, its a contradiction in terms. but business aint going to earn much profit on people not buying stuff lol!
I was brought up to reuse, recycle and repurpose, so it has always been a way of life for me. Now, it does seem to have become a new marketing tool devised to get people to spend money replacing what they already have with something more efficient which is somewhat contradictory because of what happens to what they replaced. Also, it is being used in ways that make no sense, like, what is a green mortgage?
Its all just a trendy fad of seeing who can do the most symbolic gestures that accomplish absolutely nothing.
It’s a great slogan, we all know our current use of resources is unsustainable. However, some companies are jumping on the bandwagon and packaging detergents and other products in green containers merely to look environmentally friendly when in fact there is nothing special about them. If the “Go Green” slogan gets even one buffoon out of his or her HUMMER, Excursion or Escalade and onto a mountain bike, then it’s worth it. FU H2!!
I think the “Go Green” concept is great, but I agree that some companies are going in the wrong direction with it. The idea to think smarter about your purchases is still a good one though. I am more encouraged when I see companies doing more on their end, like reducing the waste at their own factories and using more renewable resources.
Pepsi is starting a new initiative to remind people about the importance of recycling by putting recycling facts on their aluminum cans, like “Recycle this can and save enough energy to power a 100-watt light bulb for four hours.” I am definitely a fan of initiatives like that- ones that encourage people to be more responsible with their own actions.
It’s great. It’s like cleaning up your room.
To buy into the hysteria is a differrent matter.
