is there a power comany that doesnt require a credit check?

i just signed my lease for my first apartment, the problem is i have to get my own power. well i went to try and get green mountain energy but i was denied due to my poor credit! i didnt even know they did credit checks! how could i get an apartment but no power????
the apartments did do a credit check, and i dont really have a co signer :(

    See if you can get a co-signer. That’s what I did, they even waived my depoist.

    I would be suspicious the apartment did not check your credit

    Power companies do not have competition so you cannot shop around

    I would call customer service to see how you can LEGALLy get around this

    Call the local utility company. Likely, they will require a deposit but should be willing to provide service.
